Final Results of the Cell Tower Survey

The Rutherford Civic Association conducted a survey to determine the community position regarding the proposed cell tower at the Rutherford pool in the Fall of 2009. The results of the survey are as follows:

Total households in the community: 692*
Households in favor of the cell tower: 118
Households against the cell tower: 226
Households undecided on the cell tower: 21
Households divided on the cell tower: 7

All survey results (paper and electronic ballots) were collected by Keith Robertory, the Rutherford Civic Association President. The ballots were validated to ensure the results only included residents in the Rutherford community*, and duplicate and fraudulent ballots were removed.

Rosemary Ryan, the Senior Staff Assistant for Legislative Services from the office of Braddock District Supervisor John Cook, functioned as a neutral third party to review the process and examine the actual ballots to ensure accuracy. On Supervisor Cook’s behalf, she validated the process and results as accurate. Supervisor Cook does not have a position on the issue itself, and he will wait until the permits have been filed and public hearings held before he takes a position in the best interests of the community he serves.
